Like any living being or organism we are moving on a timeline, using the legacy of past experiences to live the present moment and imagining the future. Past, present and future are linked together by one same spirit and desire to live and grow. With the overall theme of this conference being « The journey of EMDR », we take a moment to reflect on the past of EMDR therapy with renown pioneers of EMDR Richard Mitchell and Roger Solomon. How early experiences of EMDR have influenced the present of EMDR therapy? How recent research and conceptual studies on EMDR are influencing our present view on EMDR and could shape its future? Developing from a PTSD treatment to a transdiagnostic approach of psychopathology may have impacts at different levels – research, training, accreditation, organization – impacts that we need to address in advance for an optimal future scenario. This round table will bring EMDR therapists of different generations to discuss these core issues.
