Background and aims
The Adaptive Information Processing Model (AIP) predicts that EMDR processing will mostly run smoothly because of the existence of adaptive memory networks and the linking up of new associations which facilitate change on the level of the traumatic memory and maladaptive themes. However, there are circumstances which require more precise and growth-promoting interventions to facilitate healing. These include processing with fragile clients, some extraordinary/overwhelming events, or ongoing episodes which are “theme-loaded”. In this presentation, we provide a treasure chest of procedures and interventions which are included in our E-TEP (Expanded Traumatic Episode/Event) Protocol, also known as the “Sandwich”, for promoting healing.

Methods
We will introduce (1) The Resource Connection Envelope (RCE) as a gateway for retrieving unconscious unique transformative resources; (2) A transformative PC (TPC) which facilitates attainment of a transformed theme for the self; (3) Growth-promoting interweaves: relational, somatic and dialectical; (4)"Back-To-Base” strategies, utulizing the EMD-EMDR continuum, providing process-focused interventions.

Results
These procedures and interventions ensure higher transformative processes through a deeper connection to lifelong themes related to the higher self, resources, the therapeutic relationship, and somatic-based discharge, all which ultimately facilitate EMDR processing.

Conclusions
Multiple procedures greatly aid the facilitation of transformative processes in EMDR therapy and should thus be utilized.

Abstract topic
Transformation in EMDR Psychotherapy

3 Learning objectives
1. Learn the RCE and how to access a TPC.
2. Acquire skills to use relational, somatic and dialectical interweaves.
3. Gain knowledge on process-based focused processing, especially through connection to lifelong themes of the self.

Background and aims
EMDR, as a powerful, scientifically validated treatment, facilitates processing of adverse experiences and traumatic memories. In Getting Past Your Past, Francine Shapiro, the developer of EMDR, offers a collection of self-help techniques facilitating emotional healing based on EMDR therapy and makes her practical methods available to the public.

Methods
The main objective of this study is to investigate and report the experiences of using EMDR self-help techniques in a population of adults aged 25-55 years with different types of issues but no major trauma. At the end of this survey, TICES Log –a log to identify situations that trigger any disturbance- and Cognition List were conducted.

Results
The results indicate significant capability in participants to identify their negative cognitions and triggers, attain an optimal strategy to handle and manage those negative cognitions and replace them with reinforced positive ones.

Conclusions
EMDR self-help techniques are a set of effective user guides based on a scientifically proven form of psychotherapy. It provides applicable exercises to identify all those negative memories and experiences that are beneath awareness but still affecting reactions.

Abstract topic
The transformation of research-supported EMDR treatment strategies into self-help techniques makes these techniques a valuable resource for individuals who struggle with the effects of painful life experiences but do not seek formal treatment.

3 Learning objectives
EMDR self-help techniques offer practical procedures to instruct that some memories are more of a problem than others, and self-monitoring is not enough. One should benefit from having the memories processed with a skilled therapist.
